“Netflix Has No App For VisionOS”
John Gruber, at Daring Fireball:
Not having a native VisionOS app is one thing. Apparently having no current plans to make one is another. But it really feels like pure corporate spite — a pissing match — that Netflix is refusing the allow their iPad app to run on VisionOS.
Honestly, this might end up being the straw that makes me cancel Netflix. I use Apple devices, and Netflix’s decision to deliberately remain a second-class citizen on Apple platforms—notably, Apple TV before this—is frustrating. They also recently canceled the ability to rent Blu-ray discs (so much better quality than streaming, especially in the audio department). To top it off, the competition has gotten so good that’s it’s just as easy to pick something to watch from a provider that doesn’t actually spite its users on Apple platforms. There just aren’t many must-see shows on Netflix like there used to be.
