“Not important enough: 1Password abandons its native Mac app”
Jason Snell at Six Colors:
“A banner Mac app and app developer has abandoned a platform-native app for the same web-app wrapper it’s using on Windows. Even if it’s the best Electron app you’ve ever seen, it won’t be the same—and more than that, it says something painful about the future of Mac software.”
Oh, this one hurts. According to my 1password vault, I entered my first login in March, 2008. I’ve come with them through all the recent changes, including the move to subscription pricing and 1password 7, which was a usability regression in my opinion (RIP Command-\). But this might be the last straw. Twitter, Hacker News, and Reddit are filled with the cries of long-term fans. Say it isn’t so, AgileBits. :(
